A night at the Moulin Rouge: once-in-a-lifetime experience in Paris

Airbnb is known for always making unusual overnight stays possible. Now a few have the chance to spend a night atMoulin Rouge.

May 17, 2022

Founded in 1889 and recorded for eternity in many works by painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the world-renowned nightclub celebrates its 133rd anniversary this year. Night after night, 60 performers from 14 nations celebrate the anniversary of the Parisian institution with the elaborate show "Féerie." And they've come up with another special feature to mark the festivities: for the first time ever in the history of the Moulin Rouge, a secret room in the iconic red windmill on the roof of the theater is above Airbnb bookable.

A night in the secret room

The Moulin Rouge is located in the heart of Montmartre. It was here that the "French Cancan", French vaudeville, cabarets and Belle Époque-style performances saw the light of day. In keeping with the history of the house, Jean-Claude Yon designed a boudoir-style room. The renowned French historian is an expert on the 19th century. He renovated the windmill according to historical models. The goal: to take guests on a journey back in time. Yet the windmill has never been open to the public. Until now.

Now the secret room is bookable for three nights: for June 13, 20 and 27. The night at Moulin Rouge includes a private tour of the cabaret and behind the scenes. Guests will also enjoy an aperitif at the roof terrace. A three-course Belle Époque menu crowns the event. Responsible for the preparation: the chef Arnaud Demerville. You'll also meet dancer and Airbnb host Claudien Van Den Bergh in her dressing room. For the show, of course, there's only the best seats in the theater, followed by a photo shoot on stage with the performers of the show. The night at the Moulin Rouge ends with breakfast the next morning.
